Lawo to present growing unified platform at IBC2024

Lawo to present growing unified platform at IBC2024
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Lawo will present its extensive range of flexible and scalable audio, video, control and monitoring solutions at IBC2024. Among the highlights is the official launch of the HOME mc² DSP app, first announced at NAB in April and already in use at global sporting events. This app will be available in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Lawo VSC

In addition to enhancements to the current HOME Apps offering, Lawo will introduce an expanded feature set for its existing HOME Apps, covering live production and playout across multiple media and broadcast platforms in compressed and uncompressed workflows. The .edge gateway platform will receive upgraded audio and video capabilities and new optional licenses that can be activated and deactivated via the Lawo Flex commercial scheme.

The ultra-low-latency HOME mc² DSP app, a new member of the HOME Apps family, is a server-based audio engine that combines the flexibility of the HOME Apps platform with Lawo’s audio processing quality. Built on cloud-native technology using micro-services and containers, the mc² DSP app can be used with mc² mixing consoles or as a standalone system for server-based audio processing when no A__UHD Core is available or when staying within the HOME Apps ecosystem is more practical.

Lawo will also release the free and standard versions of the Lawo VSC app in August. The Lawo VSC is a virtual audio device designed for macOS 14 and later. It allows local computer audio sources to be sent as Ravenna/AES67 streams for network sharing and receiving audio streams from the network. The full version supports up to 128 audio devices per instance and up to 128 uncompressed, bi-directional audio channels per virtual audio device in multicast or unicast mode, with sampling rates up to 96kHz. The free version supports one virtual audio device with up to two-channel senders and receivers on a single network interface. Both versions will be available in August 2024.

In a European premiere, Lawo will introduce the new crystal, an IP-native broadcast mixing system built on the Ravenna/AES67 Audio-over-IP networking standards and compliant with SMPTE ST2110-30/-31 for audio and ST2022-7 for redundancy. Powered by the Lawo Power Core Engine, crystal supports expandable I/O, accommodating AES67, MADI, analog, AES3 and Dante audio sources and destinations. It offers two modes of operation, Power Core and Controller, catering to a wide range of audio production workflows from traditional broadcast operations to backup and disaster recovery sites. The Controller mode serves as an extension interface for mc² audio production consoles.

Lawo will also showcase a new OnAir Radio Virtual Interface with Power Core support, designed to work seamlessly with diamond and crystal console setups.

Lawo is at booth 8B90 at IBC2024.
