Lawo’s Edge One is a compact audio/video stagebox designed for remote production, contribution and commentary applications. The Lawo Home-native SMPTE ST 2110 unit combines SDI and HDMI video I/O, JPEG XS encoding/decoding, frame synchronization and Lawo mc²-grade audio DSP processing in a single device, reducing the need for separate audio and video gateways in flypack and OB workflows.
For remote production environments, Edge One supports up to eight SDI camera feeds, Madi I/O with sample rate conversion, analog audio for camera communication including four-wire support, GPI connectivity for tally, and low-latency audio transport. Audio can be controlled remotely from Lawo mc² production consoles across IP networks, while integrated JPEG XS compression enables efficient, low-latency contribution when the LAN or WAN bandwidth is finite.
Edge One also functions as a dedicated commentary unit. An optional commentary module supports up to three commentators with individual microphone inputs, headphone outputs and low-latency local monitor mixes. Additional auxiliary I/O and local keypad-based control (optional) simplify venue-side operation, while contribution signals are transported directly via SMPTE ST 2110 to an OB truck or centralized production hub.
