The WorldDAB Summit commenced yesterday, Nov. 13, in Zagreb, Croatia, beginning with the WorldDAB General Assembly, a members-only event.
A highlight of the Assembly was the presentation of the WorldDAB Award for Outstanding Service to Lindsay Cornell, chair of WorldDAB’s Technical Committee. Cornell made history as the first person to receive this prestigious award twice, having previously been honored in 2010. WorldDAB President Jacqueline Bierhorst recognized Cornell’s exceptional three-decade career with one of Europe’s leading public broadcasters.
The award, presented in memory of Per-Erik Selemark of Swedish Radio (former vice president and Technical Committee chair who passed away in 1999), acknowledges outstanding contributions to DAB+ digital radio development.
Following the Assembly, delegates attended an educational session at the Tesla Technical Museum, exploring the legacy of Nikola Tesla. The presentation highlighted Tesla’s groundbreaking work in alternating current and his lesser-known achievements in wireless signal transmission and remote control technology.
The day concluded with a gala dinner at the Esplanade Hotel, marking President Jacqueline Bierhorst’s first year of leadership at WorldDAB.
