Dielectric promotes Savage to VP marketing and business services
Tech Focus: Prodys says it has completed its audio and video codec family with the new Quantum2 AV studio units.
These units can make two simultaneous audio connections of the highest quality and a third bidirectional low-latency video connection. These studio units are the perfect partners for the well-known Quantum2 W and Quantum2 XL portable codecs for commentators
Communication quality in the Quantum2 family of codecs is achieved even on unreliable transmission media thanks to the possibility of combining different IP lines (two Ethernet, one Wi-Fi and up to eight LTE/5G telephone connections), both to increase the available transmission bandwidth and to increase redundancy in the transmission of IP packets. This is achieved thanks to Prodys’ proprietary protocol, Brave. Still, a comprehensive set of standard protocols like SIP or SRT is also available to ensure the compatibility of Quantum2 equipment with that of other manufacturers.
The sum of all these technical advances makes it possible to reduce travel expenses, allowing commentators to receive the video feed of the event in their own homes or to send support images from the studio to the commentator on the field.
