SwissRadioDay has added a session on developing successful radio formats to its 2026 program. The session will examine how broadcasters can turn a simple subject into an unexpected on-air moment and use tension, creativity and audience participation to build listener loyalty.
Radio SRF 3 morning hosts Marco Thomann and Philippe Gerber will share examples of formats designed to create stronger connections with listeners. The pair have worked together as part of the station’s morning team since 2014. Their session will explore how effective on-air ideas combine surprise with a sense of immediacy and genuine audience involvement.
The program will also expand its discussion of podcast monetization, with Florian Sonderegger, commercial director at CH Media Mind, joining Roman Mösli, director of partner solutions at CH Media. Following the networking lunch, Swiss Federal Councilor Albert Rösti, head of the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications, will join moderator Maria Victoria Haas for an interview.
SwissRadioDay26 takes place on Aug. 27 at Kaufleuten in Zurich, with online and on-air access also available. Sessions will also explore programmatic radio, podcast revenue and next-gen talent.
