Wheatstone is focusing on mixing at the upcoming NAB Show with the launching of two new products, the VMX mixing platform and the VML virtual console.
According to the announcement, the VMX operates as the backend for Wheatstone’s LXE, Glass LXE, Strata and Virtual Strata consoles along with I/O Blade utility mixers. It resides in the WheatNet ecosystem and can be installed on a standard server, PC or Wheatstone appliance. It will eliminate “racks of dedicated mix engines for each console along with all the associated engineering, wiring and real estate costs.”
VML is an HTML5 web browser-based console UI initially aimed at remote operation.
The release explained, “Together, VMX mix engine platform and VML virtual broadcast console provide an immediate, full-featured mixing environment for remote broadcasts, temporary studios, disaster recovery, or for permanent on-air, production and voicetrack studios.”
