Beasley Media Group has announced that veteran broadcaster Mike O’Brian, host of the long-running “Mike & Carla Morning Show” on 96.3 KKLZ-FM, will retire at the end of October after nearly four decades on Las Vegas radio. His final broadcast is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 31, 2025.
KKLZ-FM, a classic hits station serving Southern Nevada, will mark the milestone with on-air tributes, guest appearances and listener memories throughout the month.
A familiar voice for generations
O’Brian has been a fixture in Las Vegas broadcasting since the early 1990s. Known for his humor and easy rapport with co-host Carla Rea, he helped define morning radio in the city, earning a loyal following and multiple industry awards. Earlier this year, the Nevada Broadcasters Association honored him with its Southern Nevada Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding service and contributions to the local radio community.
Beasley Media Group chief content officer Justin Chase said O’Brian’s influence extended far beyond the microphone. “Mike is one of those rare broadcasters who truly becomes part of people’s lives,” said Chase. “For close to 40 years, he’s been the voice Las Vegas wakes up to — making us laugh, think and feel connected. His passion and heart have made a lasting impact on KKLZ and the Las Vegas community.”
Legacy of connection and community
In addition to his on-air success, O’Brian has been recognized for his community involvement, supporting numerous local causes throughout his career.
“Hosting this show has been the honor of a lifetime,” said O’Brian. “I never imagined I’d spend decades waking up with Las Vegas — laughing with our listeners, sharing stories and being part of their daily lives. I’m humbled and deeply grateful for the memories.”
His co-host Carla Rea described O’Brian as both a professional partner and a close friend. “Working with Mike has been the highlight of my career,” she said. “He’s more than a co-host — he’s a partner and a dear friend. I couldn’t be happier for him as he begins this next chapter.”
