Dutch Jumbo Supermarkten has selected OmniPlayer as its playout system for Jumbo Radio.
The Dutch supermarket started broadcasting non-stop music with Jumbo Radio in 2018. The retailer decided to up its game by adding a new ingredient to its radio station: live DJs.
Kristel van Eijk will host a morning show from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CET, while DJ Daniël Smulders has the later shift from 4 to 7 p.m. CET. Broadcasting from a new studio, the hosts will talk about music, food and sports. Additionally, they will present current promotions and interact with customers.
Jumbo Radio can be heard in all Jumbo stores, distribution centers and the head office of the supermarket chain. The retailer’s goal is to give “nice, upbeat music to work on” for staff members, and “great sounds to do your shopping to” for customers.
To build out the Jumbo Radio studio, the supermarket chose AutoMates, who set up Jumbo Radio with OmniPlayer as their playout system.
OmniPlayer is a developer of end-to-end radio automation software systems and distribution solutions for broadcasters. The system allows for editing, production, playout and visual radio. It can also connect with several third-party software systems.
