The DRM Consortium has released details of some of its plans for the first half of the new year. The organization says it aims to pursue even more vigorously its main strategic directions, namely, to establish DRM as the preferred global standard for digitizing all bands and offering full and flexible coverage, to expand in key markets of Asia, Africa and Europe, to push for new, up-to-date receiver solutions, and to promote DRM as the perfect solution for delivering emergency warnings and distance learning.
DRM says that to achieve these goals, it will engage in face-to-face meetings and attend and present at conferences, workshops and seminars. It is also already preparing for its annual General Assembly in the UAE in May.
DRM members are currently at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, and the organization intends to participate in the A24 Global Coordination Conference, Jan. 15–19, in Malaysia.
On Jan. 17, it will deliver a virtual talk on DRM saving lives during disasters, spearheaded by the UN GCFund, and on Feb. 7, it will co-host an ABU DRM Emergency Warning Tutorial with the Asian Broadcasting Union. On the 13th of the same month, it will celebrate World Radio Day. A highlight of the DRM calendar is the Broadcast Engineering Society exhibition and conference, Feb. 14–17, in New Delhi, India, of which it is a sponsor.
DRM will also present ‘DRM: Digital Radio Over Any Distance’ at the ABU DBS in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The annual DRM General Assembly will be held in Dubai, UAE, for the first time, May 19–20. It will be a crucial event for all DRM members and invited guests. DRM will also be at CABSAT, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, immediately after that — May 21–23, before heading off to the Rwandan capital of Kigali, to present at eLearning Africa, May 29–31.
