kronehit selects Lawo and SLG Broadcast for studio modernization
The Digital Radio Mondiale General Assembly 2026 concluded in Jakarta, following a two-day event hosted in partnership with Radio Republik Indonesia, with the election of main board members.
According to DRM, this was the first time the consortium had held its annual meeting in the Asia-Pacific region, where the organization said DRM is currently the predominant digital radio standard. The event brought together broadcasters, regulators, manufacturers and automotive representatives from multiple countries, including Indonesia, China, India, Germany, South Korea, the United States and the United Kingdom.
DRM members re-elected Ruxandra Obreja as DRM chair for another two-year term. Alexander Zink of Fraunhofer IIS and Matthew Phillips of CML Micro will serve as DRM vice chairs, while Johannes von Weyssenhoff was confirmed as chair of the DRM Technical Committee.
AT the General Assembly, the consortium highlighted Indonesia’s role in digital radio deployment following the country’s adoption of DRM for AM and FM broadcasting, alongside DAB+ in VHF Band III, in 2023. DRM said Radio Republik Indonesia already operates DRM FM transmissions from nine sites across the country.
The General Assembly also included presentations and demonstrations involving receiver manufacturers, automotive companies and DRM transmission technology. According to the consortium, discussions focused on digital radio implementation, receiver development and the deployment of broadcast infrastructure.
