Commercial Radio & Audio and Triton Digital have released the Australian Podcast Ranker for October 2024. The Ranker provides a monthly snapshot of Australia’s top-performing podcasts, publishers and sales representatives, adhering to the IAB Podcast Measurement Technical Guidelines.
“Hamish & Andy” from LiSTNR (SCA) leads the list of top podcasts, attracting 934,394 monthly listeners. It is closely followed by “Casefile True Crime,” produced by Audioboom, which garnered 771,026 listeners. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s “ABC News Top Stories” achieved an audience of 747,728 listeners, while “Shameless” by Shameless Media captured the attention of 593,270 listeners. Completing the top five is “Mamamia Out Loud” from Mamamia, with 564,874 listeners.
Podcast genres also displayed notable listener preferences. “Society & Culture” emerged as the most popular category, with 4,763,761 listeners, showcasing its broad appeal. “True Crime” maintained its strong following, attracting 4,301,686 listeners, while the “News” genre resonated with 3,935,066 listeners. “Comedy” and “Sports” rounded out the top five genres, with 3,529,201 and 3,220,169 listeners, respectively, reflecting diverse audience interests.
The publisher rankings demonstrated significant competition among the leading industry players. ARN/iHeart remained the top publisher, reaching 4,565,128 listeners. LiSTNR (SCA) followed with 3,218,488 listeners, while the Australian Broadcasting Corporation secured third place with 2,766,661 listeners. SiriusXM Podcast Network and Audioboom completed the top five, attracting 2,346,084 and 2,142,632 listeners, respectively.
Sales representation was dominated by LiSTNR (SCA), which represented various publishers and amassed 7,297,145 monthly listeners. ARN/iHeart, leveraging its extensive network of publishers, followed with 6,819,070 listeners. NOVA Entertainment reached 2,667,123 listeners, while News Corp Australia secured 1,770,195 listeners. Nine rounded out the list with 1,373,444 listeners, showcasing its strong performance across its radio and publishing platforms.
