Beasley Media Group Philadelphia WMGK(FM) morning personality Matt Cord is returning to an old haunt, fellow Beasley Philly rocker and sister station WMMR(FM). He’ll be hosting the midday shift starting Dec. 1.
He’s replacing long-time WMMR midday host Pierre Robert, who passed away at the end of October. Robert was a 40+ vet of the station.
Cord said of his former colleague and friend, “Nobody replaces Pierre — let’s make that clear. But this will be my third stint at MMR, and I’ve never been too far away, working at BEN-FM and MGK, and I saw my friend every day. I promise to carry his amazing spirit into the studio bearing his name and do my best to make him proud.”
WMMR Program Director Chuck Damico elaborated, “Dealing with the sudden and tragic loss of the legendary Pierre Robert is something nobody at WMMR had ever imagined we would have to face… “Everyone at the station is so grateful that our longtime friend and radio family member Matt Cord is willing to take that on.”
Cord has a side gig is as the home arena announcer for the Philadelphia 76ers pro basketball team.
