BayFM, also known as Radio 2BAY, has installed an AEQ Forum IP Split digital console in its main broadcast studio. The community radio station, based in Byron Shire, New South Wales, is run entirely by volunteers and serves the Northern Rivers region on 99.9 FM, with additional worldwide reach via its online platform. It has a long history in Australian community radio and is home to well-known local voices, including the “Knights of Bullthingy” — Michael Kenyon, The Milkshake Brothers, Grant Kenyon and Guano Thrust.
The new console is part of BayFM’s latest technical upgrade, and the station says it chose the console for its ease of use, reliability and audio quality. The AEQ Forum IP Split is a modular, compact mixing console designed for on-air broadcast control. It supports functions such as fader start, automatic monitor muting, intercom and external equipment management. Its flexibility allows use in self-control, control room and mixed configurations, as well as integration into larger installations.
The system is built on the FR Core modular engine and can be configured with up to six quad fader modules plus a control and monitoring unit. It also offers AoIP connectivity via AES67 and Dante, enabling interoperability with equipment from over 300 manufacturers. Alternatively, stations can opt for Madi connectivity and internal digital telephone hybrids.
AEQ says that by selecting the AEQ Forum IP Split, BayFM joins a growing number of broadcasters worldwide using AEQ solutions to manage daily operations while ensuring consistent, high-quality output.
