FUN Radio Fire Update: RTL Belgium Lends a Hand

BRUSSELS — FUN Radio Belgique has reported that the fire that broke out at its Brussels headquarters caused considerable to its digital broadcast equipment. Since the incident on March 30, the broadcaster’s technical team has been scrambling to get FUN Radio back on track. With the help of sister station RTL Belgium, FUN Radio managed to partially return to the airwaves on April 1 and is gradually adding back all of its services.

“We’re talking about a partial return,” said Lloyd Byloos, head of programming for FUN Radio. “Thanks to RTL Belgium, who immediately reached out a hand and were willing to help us out by offering us a temporary studio in RTL House, we resumed our broadcast with musical content.”

This will allow FUN Radio Belgique to clean out the basement studio section and put in place the necessary equipment.

“I really want to thank the management and staff of RTL Belgium for their solidarity toward us. In a few hours’ time, they deployed the necessary logistics to help us out,” emphasized Grégory Finn, director general of FUN Radio Belgique. “It goes without saying that I’m very proud of our FUN Radio team, and our engineers working round-the-clock since March 30 to facilitate the return to our normal broadcasts.”

In a press statement, FUN Radio’s personnel also thanked both the station’s audience and other media outlets for their spontaneous support.
