Aeranti-Corallo highlights car listening and local radio strength in new Audiradio analysis
The Digital Radio Mondiale General Assembly has welcomed the release of an updated version of the DRM Handbook, a technical and strategic guide for broadcasters and regulators implementing the standard.
The handbook provides an overview of DRM system architecture, deployment models and use cases across AM and FM bands, along with guidance on planning, rollout and receiver ecosystems. The update reflects recent developments in digital radio adoption and aims to support countries transitioning from analog to digital broadcasting.
DRM says the revised edition incorporates the latest technical specifications and operational experience from markets where the standard has already launched. It also includes updates on emergency warning functionality, energy efficiency and the integration of data services alongside audio.
At the DRM General Assembly, members highlighted the handbook’s role as a reference point for stakeholders evaluating digital radio strategies. The organization positions the document as a resource for policymakers, engineers and broadcasters seeking to understand implementation pathways and long-term benefits.
DRM has promoted the standard as a flexible digital broadcasting system designed to operate across multiple frequency bands while supporting a range of services, including audio, text and multimedia content.
The updated DRM Handbook is now available to industry stakeholders as part of the organization’s efforts to support ongoing digital radio deployment worldwide.
