The WorldDAB General Assembly will take place Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. –4 p.m. GMT (10 a.m.–5 p.m. CET)
The online event will provide attendees with a detailed overview of DAB digital radio progress in Europe and beyond.
This will include a session focused on DAB+ receivers and communicating to the listener about DAB+. Through presentations and case studies, participants will discover how broadcasters are informing their listeners about new DAB+ stations on air, DAB+ signal coverage, and how to find DAB+ in their car and at home. They’ll also gain insight into recent changes in consumer buying patterns for digital radio devices.
On Agenda
Speakers include Jacqueline Bierhorst from Digital Radio NL. She chairs the WorldDAB Marketing Group and will provide an overview of how broadcasters are informing their listeners about DAB+.
Also, Max Templeman from GfK will give an overview of DAB+ device sales, and how Covid-19 has impacted the consumer audio devices market. In addition to the latest digital radio sales figures, he’ll share input on which types of devices listeners are buying and where they’re buying them, and the impact of AI speakers, smart audio and smart displays.
From Italy, DAB+ expert Giorgio Guana will discuss the impact of the country’s receiver legislation, which requires all radio receivers sold in Italy to have digital capability. Rai, EuroDab Italia and DAB Italia now have some 50 DAB+ stations on air nationally.
International Overview
As Switzerland prepares to switch off FM, a major DAB+ information campaign is underway encouraging listeners to switch to digital at home and in their cars. Digimig Working Group Chair, Iso Rechsteiner will give an overview of the DSO communications strategy, the agency Scholz & Friends commissioned to carry out the campaign, and Switzerland’s largest auto dealership AMAG
Other speakers include Digital Radio Deutschland’s Carsten Zorger. He’ll share details on how broadcasters are helping listeners tune into DAB+ radio offerings in Germany. Zorger will also provide informaton about a partnership with a major DAB+ receiver manufacturer. The project consists of inviting listeners to design their own radio using an online radio design tool.
Finally, Digital Radio UK’s Ford Ennals will join the event direct from Oxford Street in London. He’ll talk about about the United Kingdom’s focus on educating consumers and retailers about the evolution of digital devices and stations.
