MediaNet Vlaanderen will host Belgian Broadcast Day Friday Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. CEST online.
Founded in 1994, not-for-profit MediaNet aims to ensure content innovation in the Flanders region of Belgium. It says it unites more than 80 companies and government institutions in an effort to “tackle the problems and challenges of a rapidly evolving and ICT-driven media market.” Since 2003, the IWT and the Flemish Innovation Partnership (VIS) have officially recognized the association.
During virtual Belgian Broadcast Day 2020, more than 20 companies will showcase their products and solutions. In addition, attendees will have the possibility to arrange one-on-one meetings with each presenter to learn about which tools best suit their requirements as well as about certain ‘tricks of the trade’ regarding remotes.

This edition will focus on how broadcasters can safely, efficiently and creatively capture, produce and distribute audiovisual content. Topics will range from workflow optimization to IP and data monitoring. Participating companies include Lawo, StudioTech, public broadcaster VRT, DPG Media and Panasonic.
Jonathan van de Velde, program and communications director for MediaNet Vlaanderen describes the event as a practical way to stay updated on the latest evolution in audiovisual technology. He adds that it also provides an opportunity to directly get in touch with specialists in the technological field and get feedback on their latest innovations.
This is the first time the event takes place virtually. “This allows us to include insight from experts worldwide and reach an expanded audience,” van de Velde added.
“The current health situation has forced industry professionals (both broadcasters and manufacturers) to become even more creative with technology than ever before. The result is that tech firms and media producers are innovating new ways to enable the creation of compelling content. It’s imperative for all of us to share this knowledge at this challenging time.”
