Calrec has announced it will demo several new and existing products at NAB 2022, allowing attendees to meet these products hands-on.
Type R Talent Panel and GPIO Box
The Type R is Calrec’s distinctive modular, expandable, IP-based mixing system for radio that uses standard networking hardware and tailorable soft panels. At NAB 2022, Calrec will introduce a compact Talent Panel to the mix. It allows users to switch between multiple sources via its integrated hi-res TFT and adjust headphone volume through a dedicated rotary control. Four switches allow users to customize the panel with standard functions like talkback and cough switches, ensuring essential controls are close to hand.
Also on show will be Calrec’s new GPIO unit for the Type R. This unit is a 1U box that delivers an additional 32 GPOs and 32 GPIs to interface with external systems such as playout, phone systems and codecs. Users can add further functionality onto the Type R’s physical buttons, fader panels, soft panels or web UIs.
ImPulse core
At NAB 2022, Calrec will run three independent consoles from a fully redundant pair of ImPulse cores: a 48 dual fader Apollo console, a 40 fader Artemis console and a headless console running Calrec Assist on a PC.
Calrec says the ImPulse is compatible with its Assist web interface and Apollo and Artemis consoles to provide a straightforward upgrade path to an IP domain. It provides 3D immersive path widths and panning for next-generation audio with height and 3D pan controls, flexible panning and downmixing built-in. Calrec adds that ImPulse allows up to four independent mixing environments to run from a single core, wherever in the world it’s located, and each separate mixer can access up to 1458 paths.
Remote production and Brio
Other products Calrec will demo at NAB 2022 are the RP1 remote production unit and the Brio plug-and-play broadcast console. The 2U RP1 unit allows users to control another Calrec console anywhere in the world without ever leaving the studio. It creates dedicated “control rooms” to mix feeds from multiple remote venues.
The Brio slots into any broadcast workflow, is easy to operate, has comprehensive built-in I/O and is expandable for future growth. It comes in two formats. The new Brio 36 Duet has internal Hydra2 connectivity and 96 input channels as standard. The Brio 36 Medley package includes everything on a Brio Duet plus a Dante 64 card or MADI I/O module and an external Br.IO box with 24 mic/line inputs, 16 analog outputs and eight AES I/O.
