Aeranti-Corallo raises interference concerns at Italian World Radio Day event
The Bavarian State Centre for New Media (BLM) recently published its Funkanalyse Bayern 2021 report, which details the results of an annual survey on radio listening habits in Bavaria. The study was carried out in the spring and is based on around 23,300 interviews with people aged 14 and over.
The study found that weekday daily reach of local radio programs in Bavaria is at 2.97 million people, age 14 and over. They listened to radio an average of 237 minutes a day, Monday–Friday. Weekday listening fell slightly from 2020 (244 minutes) while weekend listening rose from 209 to 220 minutes on Saturday and 165 to 189 minutes on Sunday.
Overall radio listening (VHF and digital) fell 1% from the year before to 83.4% of the population of 14 and over. FM radio listening was at 58%, down 8.8% from 2020.
Total digital listening (Internet, DAB+, cable and satellite) rose 5% to 42%. DAB+ and Internet listening led the rise, with 26.6% (up 3.3%) and 16.8% (up 6.1%), respectively.
DAB+ equipment ownership has also grown, with 42% of the population 14 and over having at least one DAB+ radio in use. In 2020, DAB+ device ownership was 34.2%.
“DAB+ has reached a new milestone in the race to digitization in Bavaria, confirming its leading position as the most important digital channel for linear radio programs,” said Siegfried Schneider, president of the BLM.
