Flemish public broadcaster VRT Radio 1 has updated its branding to reflect its digital transformation. The station, which provides news, stories, and live sports coverage, continues its DAB+ and FM broadcasts while expanding its on-demand services through VRT’s digital platforms, including VRT MAX, VRT NWS, and the Radio 1 app.

Anne Stroobants, head of communication at Radio 1, said, “With nearly 800,000 audio segment plays and over 1.2 million podcast starts in 2024, our digital audience continues to expand.” The station saw a 12% increase in online listeners compared to 2023.
In response to this digital shift, Radio 1 has introduced a new logo and visual identity that aligns with VRT’s recent redesign. According to Stroobants, the new branding was developed to work across all digital platforms, current and future.
The new identity launched on Feb. 11, with billboard advertising in Belgian cities including Antwerp, Louvain, and Brussels.
