UNESCO has unveiled the theme for World Radio Day 2025 (WRD25), set for Feb. 13, as “Radio and Climate Change.” The event encourages radio stations to strengthen their editorial, financial and networking potential through collaboration and content exchange.
UNESCO highlights opportunities for stations to partner with counterparts in other countries. Suggestions include exchanging ideas, sharing programs, inviting each other on air, exploring co-productions and discussing longer-term twinning arrangements. These initiatives aim to foster global collaboration and enrich coverage of climate change issues.
Stations are invited to register with UNESCO to access free resources, including a climate change reporting and income generation guide, tips for improving climate coverage, nature sound libraries, royalty-free multimedia content and transcripts for WRD25-themed clips. Registered participants will also receive promotional materials to enhance their celebrations.
UNESCO encourages stations to use its “13 Ideas for Celebrating 13 February” as inspiration for on-air programs and invites the public to follow its official WRD25 LinkedIn event. Organizations can also add their events to UNESCO’s WRD25 map.
Registration is quick and available at UNESCO’s WRD website.
