Sennheiser Spectera sits at center of NEP Australia’s audio overhaul
Tech Focus: AEQ says its Smartalk service creates high-quality two-way audio links without needing a hardware audio codec at the targeted end, such as with a guest or a remote correspondent.
The web-based Smartalk application generates links sent to the correspondent by email, WhatsApp, QR code or other means.
When the correspondent clicks on the link, the application sends them an Opus software codec that connects to a station’s AEQ Phoenix codec.
Users don’t need to have an audio codec, install special software or be helped to figure it out and use it. Therefore, sporadic collaborators can broadcast from anywhere there is internet connectivity.
Smartalk uses the high-quality Opus encoding featured in AEQ Phoenix codecs.
To ensure high availability and low delay, the company has created a redundant infrastructure distributed across several cloud servers in different regions of the world.
The system offers two working modes for greater operational flexibility: Guest mode, the most common, and Reporter mode.
Any AEQ Phoenix codec user can subscribe to the Smartalk service on a trial basis.
