Most of Belgium’s French-language radio stations will join forces for TALENTS, a temporary station dedicated entirely to local artists. From 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, until midnight on Sunday, Sept. 27, the DAB+ service will broadcast music alongside specially produced content.
The initiative marks the Fête de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, the annual celebration of Belgium’s French-speaking community. Belgian digital radio organization maRadio.be is bringing leading public, commercial and independent stations together around a single DAB+ service.
The schedule will combine one-off programs produced for the weekend with selected highlights from French-language radio stations. Listeners will hear an eclectic mix spanning pop, jazz and world music, as well as humor and specially produced live music sessions.
“The objective is clear,” said Eric Adelbrecht, CEO of maRadio.be. “We want to demonstrate that radio is the best showcase for local content, for the talent of those who create it, for the richness and diversity of French-speaking Belgian artists, and for the essential role radio plays in promoting local creativity.”
Beyond the programming, TALENTS aims to highlight radio’s role in discovering artists and helping them grow. Adelbrecht added, “With TALENTS, we also wanted to show audiences the potential of DAB+. This initiative demonstrates how digital radio can drive innovation, enrich the existing radio offering and inspire new listening experiences — all with high-quality sound.”
