Sierra Automated Systems is bringing a high-powered transmission router to the NAB Show.
Called, appropriately enough, Transmission Router, the 1RU rackmounted pizza box “manages signal paths for up to 96 sources coming into and leaving RF facilities and central NOCs, providing broadcast engineers with a single control and monitoring point. Users can manually switch inbound and outbound feeds when problems are detected, or allow the product’s built-in intelligence to automatically make real-time decisions to optimize performance of the broadcast infrastructure,” according to an announcement.
Digging deeper, the announcement said, “An extension of the SAS Global Connect universal command and control system, the SAS Transmission Router is equipped with intelligent software for situational analysis of network and infrastructure performance. Its specific functions include automatic failover to redundant paths and backup systems, silence detection, and programming support… The unit’s networking capacities make it equally at home as a local problem-solver and across larger multisite networks, with potentially hundreds of transmission routers in constant communication.”
Nick Straka, principal, distributor/integrator DNAV, said, “The SAS Transmission Router’s dashboard provides immediate clarity of signal flows moving between locations.”
SAS will share Booth W3249 with DNAV at the NAB Show.
