From June 30 to July 4, Belgian French-language station Radio Contact broadcast live for the seventh time from the Spanish holiday resort of Ibiza.
The “15/19” afternoon team, led by presenter David Antoine, spent the week in a spacious 12-room, eight-bathroom villa with two swimming pools — joined by top dance DJs and listeners as guests. Each day, the “15/19” show aired live from the villa, featuring the station’s trademark “Feel Good” music and visual radio content. A Belgian “friterie” added to the festive atmosphere.
In the weeks leading up to the Ibiza broadcasts, Radio Contact invited listeners to enter a contest offering a 24-hour stay at the Ibiza villa alongside David Antoine and team members Lucile, Thibaut and Max.
A flight-case fit
To transmit the show, Radio Contact used a compact presenter setup. “We took off with three flight cases of technical gear,” said Dorian Deschuyffeleer, head of audiovisual technology at Radio Contact. “Radio, video and transmission equipment were carefully selected to reduce weight while maintaining efficiency during the broadcasts.”
For the on-air studio in Ibiza, Deschuyffeleer chose a Behringer X-R18 console for its practicality. “The signal was routed to the RTL studios in Brussels using a Prodys Quantum W codec over a combined 4G and Ethernet link,” he said. “The codec was used for audio transmission — both the microphone signal and the guest DJ sets.”
The video setup included four manually operated Sony SRG 300SE cameras, with signals transmitted via SRT. To ensure full redundancy, the team also deployed a Starlink Standard V2 connection.
Deschuyffeleer explained that all signal processing and playout were managed at the main studio in Brussels. “The Ibiza content — both the presenter segments and DJ sets — was treated as an external source and routed to Radio Contact’s FM, DAB+ and streaming platforms,” he said.
Among the DJs performing poolside sets at the villa were Lost Frequencies, Henri PFR, DJ Licious & Alex Germys, Elfigo, Rawdolff and Konfluence & Crazy Sir-G.
