Transmitter manufacturer Nautel has scheduled another series of its popular Transmission Talk Tuesday webinars. The next presentation, on Tuesday, July 12, focuses on the oft-forgotten issue of power.
Titled “AC Power, how to talk to your electrician,” this talk will explain how different systems prefer (or sometimes require) different electrical configurations. Furthermore, some may require a bigger service entrance than the TPO (transmitter power) would indicate. Different transmitters have different power needs. Broadcasters also need to consider HD Radio — if not now, then in the near future — and what ancillary items are onsite such as air conditioning versus air exchange, tower lights, etc.
In this session, Nautel will explore how to discuss these things with the electrician, how to sort out what’s required, and what they can provide, because in some cases, what you need may not be possible (or economical). The session will end with an opportunity for questions.
