Summ’it aims to connect audiences through audio storytelling
NEW YORK — While the IBC Show in Amsterdam receives a lot of attention at the beginning of fall, in the United States, there’s another broadcast-oriented trade show in mid-October. It’s called NAB Show New York, in New York City, at the Jacob Javits Center, located in mid-town Manhattan, close to the Penn Station railroad terminal.
It’s a multimedia/multi-application show that is hard to pin down with a single descriptive sentence.
It runs the gamut of a wide range of disciplines, including marketing, production, technology and business, among others. Having said that, artificial intelligence might be a unifying theme across sessions, programs and events scheduled.
The show’s website “Trends and Topics” list, which includes Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Virtualization, Creator Economy, Sports and Streaming, should serve as a guide.
A big deal in the Big Apple
The sessions that would be of most interest for radio broadcasters are on Oct. 22: “The Evolution of AI in Radio and Podcasting,” “Niche to Noteworthy: Winning Strategies for Niche Content Monetization & Gen Z Engagement,” “How to Attract New Broadcast Engineering Talent,” “From Insights to Income: Turning Data into Revenue” and “The Impact of Video and Social Media on Broadcasting & Podcasting.”
There’s a show floor where you can check out the latest equipment and services. A lot of familiar names will be there, such as Comrex, GatesAir, Lawo, Nautel, Orban, Xperi, RCS, Radio.Cloud, Telos Alliance, Wheatstone and WorldCast Systems.

Another award, which has been announced, is the NAB National Radio Award, to be presented to long-time radio veteran and consultant Mike McVay.
There will also be a Radio + Podcast Interactive Forum on Oct. 22. For sheer entertainment value, the Post-Production World New York conference is packed with all sorts of cool, cutting-edge video technology and practices behind many movies and TV shows.
