RedTech Magazine July/August 2026 drives growth through connections
Inovonics has opened bookings for its Aaron 656 FM/HD Radio Dual Tuner Rebroadcast Receiver, with deliveries scheduled to begin in September 2026. The software-defined radio receiver targets FM and HD Radio rebroadcast and translator applications. It accepts FM and HD1–HD8 program sources.
The Aaron 656 uses Maximum-Ratio Combining technology to improve reception in challenging signal environments. Its dual tuner continuously monitors the signal-to-noise ratio from two antennas, individually and in combination and automatically selects the cleanest option. Inovonics says tests with HD Radio signals showed a 3 dB carrier-to-noise improvement when operators added a second antenna.
The receiver also accepts analog, AES digital and HTTP/HTTPS streaming inputs, with 4 GB of memory for audio-file playback and configurable fallback priorities. Outputs include FM stereo multiplex, analog and AES digital program audio and output streaming. An onboard five-band audio processor incorporates a four-band parametric equalizer, dynamic compression, AGC, stereo enhancement, limiting and stereo generation.
A web interface supports remote control and monitoring from computers and mobile devices. The 2RU unit also includes a 7-inch touchscreen, front-panel meters and alarm LEDs. Following a power interruption, it automatically returns to its programmed frequency and reception mode.
