Broadcasters renew push for U.S. AM radio legislation on Capitol Hill
Many broadcast and audio companies lament the lack of audio education opportunities but speaker maker Genelec puts their money where their mouth is.
Working with the Audio Engineering Society Educational Foundation the company funds two United States graduate student scholarships, the Genelec Dr. Ilpo Martikainen Audio Visionary Scholarship and the Genelec Mike Chafee Audio Pioneering Scholarship.
The announcement explains the Martikainen Audio Visionary Scholarship: “This scholarship is awarded annually to U.S. graduate students in the field of audio engineering who are members of the Audio Engineering Society. The scholarship, in the amount of $5,000 … to students who have a passion of advancing audio through innovation and technology development.”
Martikainen (on the left above) founded Genelec.
According to the announcement the Chafee Audio Pioneering Scholarship are for $5,000 and “is offered annually to U.S. female graduate students in the field of audio engineering who are members of the Audio Engineering Society … [and] who have a passion of advancing audio through innovation and technology development.”
Chafee was an audio enthusiast and long-time Genelec representative.
