Favorite Music Radio Manila (92.3 FM), a commercial radio station serving the Philippine capital region, has completed a major on-air studio upgrade using digital broadcast technology supplied by AEQ.
The station operates in Metro Manila, one of Southeast Asia’s most competitive radio markets, where FM broadcasters serve audiences numbering in the many millions across the city and surrounding provinces. Favorite Music Radio Manila is part of the Favorite Music Radio network, which focuses on contemporary music and entertainment programming aimed at a broad urban audience.
At the center of the studio installation is AEQ’s Capitol IP digital mixing console, which now serves as the core of the station’s audio control and signal management workflow. The console features eight faders in a fixed configuration and is designed for continuous broadcast operation, combining real-time control with networked audio capabilities.
A broader shift
Capitol IP integrates audio-over-IP connectivity directly into the console, providing 16 inputs and 16 outputs over standard Ethernet. In the Manila installation, this supports a mix of studio sources, including microphone and line inputs, analog and AES3 digital audio, and USB stereo channels for playback and production. The system can also be expanded with additional digital interfaces, including multichannel MADI connections and optional telephone and communications modules.
The move to an IP-based console reflects a broader shift in radio infrastructure worldwide, as broadcasters transition from point-to-point wiring to networked audio systems that simplify studio design, support scalability and enable easier integration with automation and remote production tools. AEQ’s Capitol IP platform is widely deployed in local, regional and national radio facilities where operational reliability and ease of use are key requirements.
With the new digital studio in place, Favorite Music Radio Manila is aiming to strengthen on-air sound quality while giving presenters and engineers a more flexible production environment aligned with modern broadcast workflows.
