Sennheiser Spectera sits at center of NEP Australia’s audio overhaul
The Digital Radio Mondiale Consortium and a number of its members will participate in the Broadcast Engineering Society Exhibition and Conference on Broadcast and Media Technology in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India, on Feb. 16-18. The Consortium will highlight its recent achievements under the overarching theme “DRM Saves Lives and Keeps Radio in Business.”
The DRM Consortium will demonstrate the audio and data transmission qualities of the DRM standard in both AM and FM bands and the energy and spectrum savings obtained by using a single transmitter and antenna to deliver up to 18 audio programs and six dedicated Journaline text services on mobile devices, standalone and car receivers. The Consortium will also display some of DRM’s key benefits, such as EWF — Emergency Warning Functionality — an integral part of the DRM standard.
In the first “DRM Hotspot 1” session scheduled for Friday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m., CML Microcircuits will introduce their new energy-efficient and affordable DRM receiver module to give a new impetus to the digital DRM receiver industry in India and elsewhere.
The second “DRM Hotspot 2” session will be on the same day at 3 p.m. It will focus on the efforts of Mobis-Hyundai, one of the Indian experts leading a DRM publicity campaign aimed at the thriving Indian automotive industry.
The DRM Consortium will also highlight the work of other DRM receiver manufacturers, including Inntot Technologies, Gospell Technologies and Starwaves.
DRM Consortium Chairman, Ruxandra Obreja, says this is the first opportunity the Consortium has had to return to BES after three years, “with new receiver solutions, answers for the energy and spectrum savings required today, and with a clear vision for the future of DRM in India, where this standard is already rolled out. We hope the visitors will appreciate the great progress made by the DRM Consortium members in the last three years and will want to join it in its effort to help create a digital India for all.”
