Broadcasters renew push for U.S. AM radio legislation on Capitol Hill
Radio France International recently put Ferncast SIP Servers into operation for contribution and distribution over IP, supporting 250 SIP addresses and possible end points. According to Ferncast, RFI began using the service in early January and is still expanding it.
The servers are located onsite and include features such as user-managed account administration and active phonebook.
This installation marks the first cooperation between RFI, Ferncast and its French distributor, Eurocom. The company adds that this is also the largest installation of Ferncast SIP Services thus far, exceeding that of the firm’s setup at the European Broadcasting Union.
Ferncast’s SIP services offer monitoring and management features, including call monitoring, call history, centralized online phonebooks and expanded support.
In addition, Ferncast says that it developed new features to meet RFI’s requirements and has also improved existing features. These comprise dynamic live white/blacklisting of unknown callers via admin interface (color-coded); display of registered accounts and devices as well as active calls in one view (color-coded); accessible call history and error monitoring; option for admins to start calls between two registered devices directly from the admin view (without intervention from codec operators); and support for more than 250 active SIP accounts on the server.
Ferncast explained that much of RFI’s SIP communication is now running through its servers using software Ferncast has tailored to fit the broadcaster’s specific needs.
“Customer requirements are driving us and our development,” said Detlef Wiese, Ferncast CEO. “The original requirements of the EBU and now the SIP Server implementation for RFI have raised the functionality of our SIP services to a whole new level. Our other SIP customers will also benefit from the new features and we’ve already received further requests for similar implementations.”
