Beasley Media Group’s 102.9 WMGK-FM in Philadelphia raised US$121,004.36 during its 19th annual Veterans Radiothon on June 20 to benefit the Veterans Multi-Service Center.
The 12-hour live broadcast ran from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Beasley Media Group Event Center. On-air hosts Matt Cord, Kristen Herrmann and Tony Harris encouraged listeners to contribute throughout the day. The event featured live auctions, prize giveaways, and guest appearances, including former WMGK personality and original event founder John DeBella, as well as John Brazer, director of fun and games for the Philadelphia Phillies, who co-hosted with Cord.
Sponsors and advertisers also pledged on-air donations, helping push the total beyond $121,000. All proceeds support the Veterans Multi-Service Center, which provides services to veterans in the Philadelphia area.
“We are incredibly grateful to our listeners, sponsors and everyone who contributed to make this year’s radiothon a success,” said Paul Blake, vice president and cluster manager for Beasley Media Group Philadelphia. “Their generosity will make a real difference in the lives of local veterans.”
