Following its unveiling at NAB Show earlier this year, Tieline will give its ViA Duo portable IP codec its first IBC showing at IBC2026, taking place Sept. 11–14 at the RAI Amsterdam. The codec combines remote broadcasting, sports commentary and off-tube production functions in a single compact platform.
“ViA Duo is Tieline’s new-generation remote codec that builds on our trusted ViA technology,” said Charlie Gawley, VP sales for APAC and EMEA at Tieline. “It truly bridges the gap between field reporting and commentary and operates as an IP codec, AoIP commentary node or facilitates off-tube broadcasting through support for audio and a video feed.”
The unit provides two XLR mic/line inputs and headphone outputs, allowing a reporter to interview a guest or two commentators to cover a sports event. It can send bidirectional stereo or dual-mono IP audio between a remote location and the studio over cellular, Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections. Integrated mixing, equalization, compression, noise gating, expansion, recording and playback functions reduce the need for additional equipment at the remote site.
Broadcasters can also use ViA Duo as an AoIP node in a stadium commentary booth, connecting it over a local area network to a production truck or across a wide area network to a mixing console at a centralized remote-production hub. Support for AES67, ST2110-30, Livewire, Ravenna and Dante allows the codec to integrate with IP-based broadcast infrastructure, using an optional AoIP and Dante card. Its video-streaming support also lets commentators receive live pictures and call an event from a location away from the venue.
Tieline provides remote operation through the Toolbox web interface embedded in each unit. Broadcasters can also manage the codec through the company’s optional Cloud Codec Controller platform.
Tieline will demonstrate ViA Duo throughout IBC2026 at stand 8.F65.
