Sport Nation, a dedicated sports broadcaster based in Auckland, New Zealand, has launched a new state-of-the-art studio powered by Lawo and Densitron technology, delivered by Professional Audio & Television. The project marks a significant step forward for the station, combining IP-based audio infrastructure with modern studio control and multi-platform production capabilities.

At the core of the installation are Lawo’s diamond radio consoles. Sport Nation’s new studios feature 18-fader desks with motorized precision, high-resolution displays and flexible configuration, supported by Lawo Power Cores for DSP, routing and processing. Lawo’s VisTool touchscreen interfaces and crystal Clear virtual consoles add further control and enable remote-ready workflows.
Densitron technology underpins the studio environment, with an IDS system managing signage, lighting, clocks and camera triggers. Meanwhile, Densitron ProDecks provide presenters with tactile control over microphones, headphones and talkback. Behind the scenes, an Arista switch fabric supports the IP backbone, and iHSE KVM systems provide low-latency access to production resources across the facility.
Seamless integration

Michael Tompkins, head of technology at Entain Media — the broadcasting and media arm of Entain plc, a multinational sports betting and gaming group headquartered in the U.K. and operator of Sport Nation — said, “We are extremely pleased with the outcome of this project and the collaboration with Professional Audio & Television and its manufacturers. Having a trusted local technology partner on the ground in New Zealand who understands both our requirements and the solutions has been invaluable in ensuring a smooth and successful implementation.”
For on-air staff, the change has been immediate. Riccardo Ball, radio host and executive producer at Sport Nation, said, “Not only does it look killer, but it enables us to create content that wouldn’t have been possible before. The content we’re creating and the technology solutions we’re using are on par with any studio anywhere. Seamless integration between traditional radio, social media and even TV content is now possible.”

Mike Heard, head of technology at PAT, said the project marks another step in the company’s collaboration with Entain, adding, “We are proud to have supported Sport Nation with world-class technology and services that will enhance their broadcasting capabilities for years to come.”
With the new facilities now operational, Sport Nation is well-positioned to deliver sports content across radio, streaming, social media and video, thereby strengthening its role in New Zealand’s multi-platform broadcast landscape.
