Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio, Inc., a non-profit organization focused on advancing female leadership in radio broadcasting, has announced Jessica Williams, national adult contemporary host and community outreach director for Townsquare Media/Rochester, Minnesota, as the 2024 Speak Up mentee.
Speak Up is a partnership program between MIW and Media Staffing Network, created in honor of Laurie Kahn, the network’s late founder and CEO. This one-year mentorship program is designed for mentees from any department in a small-to-medium-sized radio market, focusing on encouraging and empowering women to develop confidence and improve communication skills.
Williams joined the radio industry in 2017 and has since been recognized as one of the Top 20 content creators for Townsquare Media. She attended Rising Through the Ranks in Nashville, Tennessee, and is the PM drive host for several adult contemporary stations. Additionally, she serves as the community outreach director for Townsquare Media in Rochester and is on the board of directors for The Landing MN. In 2023, Williams was the mentee for the MIW Minnesota State Broadcasters Mentorship program.
MIW Board President Ruth Presslaff stated, “Jessica is such a talent, and I’m so excited to see her awarded this mentorship. I suspect Laurie Kahn would be very proud of this choice. Sincere thanks to Lisa Fields, President of Media Staffing Network, for the continued support of this program and the incredible mentoring she contributes.”
“I am truly overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude,” said Williams. “Hearing those words, ‘You’re our mentee!’ has left me spinning. I’m so thankful for the amazing women who will guide me over the next year, those I’ve already had the pleasure of meeting, and for the visionaries behind this mentorship program. I can’t wait for the incredible journey ahead!”
