As high tech gets higher — software-driven systems and hardware change at a rapid introducing new features, new workflows and more at a seemingly blistering pace — many in the broadcast industry find themselves feeling lost. Yes, the tools are amazing but it’s sometimes overwhelming to try to keep up with nearly daily changes. Things change before users fully understand them.
Lately many companies have noticed and began doing more webinars on how to use their equipment and services. Broadcast equipment maker Lawo has joined this professional education wave with Lawo Academy.
An announcement explained, “The academy combines the flexibility of online, self-paced learning with the benefits of in-person classroom sessions. Its curriculum is structured in three levels — Foundational, Advanced, and Masterclass — with each stage building on the previous one.”
There are paid and free classes. The “Freemium” classes provide general overviews such as IP networking for broadcasters or SMPTE ST2110 basics. The paid courses dig in deeper and provide certification. There will also be courses focusing on specific Lawo equipment such as consoles — from unpacking and setup to operation and network maintenance. Some courses are prepackaged on-demand while the more advanced classes might offer personalized aid.

Needless to say, students will be seeing a lot of Lawo equipment in action.
The announcement adds, “By providing the strengths of online, self-paced learning with the option of personalized guidance of in-person sessions, the Lawo Academy offers a flexible, cost-effective, and scalable way for broadcast professionals to stay ahead in a rapidly changing industry.”
