To replace the physical 2020 IBC convention and exhibition, organizers will hold IBC Showcase Sept. 8–11.
Under the theme “Empowering Content Everywhere,” the event will be available both online and on demand. With three core components participants will be able to attend the event without leaving home. These are a daily news, an exhibitor showcase and a series of online programs.
IBC describes the virtual gathering as a “one-stop shop” for exhibitor innovation. The “Exhibitor Showcase” offers a peek into the latest products and solutions, highlighting fully searchable demonstration videos, product launches and press conferences. Curators will update the library of product demos on a weekly basis in the lead up to IBC Showcase. The content will also accessible on-demand.
In addition, organizers say the “Exhibitor Programme” will spotlight manufacturers that offer technology and solutions for the industry. The program will feature tech leaders discussing key industry topics.
In the run-up to the IBC Showcase, IBC has also introduced an “Accelerator Innovation Programme.” According to organizers, the program brings together multi-company teams. They bill this iniative as a response to the “myriad of complex digital transformation challenges and the need to innovate and collaborate remotely in today’s media and entertainment industry.” The teams are collaborating to find solutions to use cases with expert vendors and solutions providers as project ‘participants.’
IBC will highlight the project, which it says demonstrates “business value through an open R&D approach,” as proof of concepts during IBC Showcase. Focus areas comprise the transition to IP and cloud workflows. They also include the evolution of 5G, VR/AR/MR, the application of AI, archiving and sustainability.
