Pepper 96.6 FM is a contemporary radio station that delivers jazz, rock, funk and reggae to a more than 5 million listeners across Athens.
The studio recently upgraded its console to a Calrec Type R for radio, configured with one fader panel and one LSP screen. The deal was overseen by Calrec’s Greek partner Bon Studio S.A.
“Calrec’s Type R for Radio has many features that are highly valuable to us,” said Anastasios Labropoulos, technical director at Pepper 96.6 FM. “Some of the most important ones are around IP technology; expandability for the future; ease of utilization; ease of upgrading software; and last but not least, the number of I/Os and faders.”
The Type R serves as the main console in the station’s on-air studio. On the air for the last decade, Pepper 96.6 FM broadcasts mainly music and some talk shows.
“Since we are primarily a music station, we had no need for a larger console; the current configuration of the Type R with specific I/O and faders fully covers our needs,” explained Labropoulos.
“There’s a need for radio products that are IP-native and that are affordable and expandable as the industry continues to move in that direction, and that’s one of the key strengths of our Type R for Radio console,” commented Graham Murray, international sales manager at Calrec.
