Radio Barberton, also known as BCR FM, is a South African community radio station broadcasting on 104.1 FM to the northeastern province of Mpumalanga, in particular to the areas of Barberton, Mbombela, Waterval Boven, and Machadodorp, stretching towards Sabie and White River near the border with the Kruger National Park. Since its inception, Radio Barberton has worked alongside the communities it serves to develop, and produced and broadcast quality programs aimed to educate and uplift its listeners. The station attracts talent from the community and features a wide range of regional and international content with an authentic local flavor.
In response to Radio Barberton’s important social work, the South African Media Diversity Development Agency helped the station build a new broadcast studio. The station’s technical management selected the AEQ Forum digital mixer as its centerpiece.
The BCR installation included an AEQ Systel-IP broadcast and multiconference telephone system and AEQ AudioPlus automation software which covers sound management, scheduling and storage.
Buck Broadcast, a local AEQ partner, led the installation in coordination with AEQ’s start-up staff working remotely from Madrid.
