The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, the Arab States Broadcasting Union, and WorldDAB will host a series of online technical workshops titled “New Developments in DAB+ Systems” from Tuesday, July 23 to Thursday, July 25. The workshops will run daily from 8 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. UTC / 4 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. MYT.
These workshops will update broadcasters and media professionals on the latest DAB+ developments and will be structured in three parts:
Day 1: The business case. This will highlight the necessity of DAB+ for the economy, the environment, and emergency services. The session will include technical updates for ABU and ASBU regions, a case study for adopting the DAB+ Emergency Warning feature into Germany’s national emergency warning system and an overview of using 5G mobile networks in radio.
Day 2: Getting started. This session will feature presentations from industry leaders on where to begin, how to implement DAB+ with a single transmitter and examine the characteristics of modern antennas to support DAB+ networks.
Day 3: Building out the networks—international updates. The final session will expand on new approaches to DAB+ and recent developments in DAB+ in cars, along with updates on the Middle East, North Africa, and Ghana. It will conclude with a panel discussion on the planning and rollout of DAB+, with current observations by industry experts.
