Spain’s Radio Vigo upgrades with AEQ

Spain’s Radio Vigo upgrades with AEQ
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Radio Vigo in Spain has upgraded two of its studios with AEQ’s modular Forum IP Split consoles. The consoles replace two AEQ BC 2000D consoles which have provided more than 15 years of uninterrupted operation.

When the Radio Vigo studios were digitized in 2006, the station installed 6 x BC 2000D consoles over MADI to a central router. While the station has maintained its MADI network, the upgrade to AEQ’s Forum IP Split consoles allows Radio Vigo to make the switch to a fully IP infrastructure when they update the rest of their audio infrastructure.

Radio Vigo provides local programming across Radio Vigo Cadena SER, SER Baixo Miño, Cadena DIAL Rías Baixas, LOS40 Vigo and LOS40 Classic Vigo. Established in 1934, it broadcasts to a population of 500,000 inhabitants across the city of Vigo and across the Baixo Miño region. It is managed by the Radio Vigo Group and has belonged to the network of Cadena SER stations since 1957.

In the “Radio Vigo Cadena SER” studio the station has installed a 16-fader console with an A/B configuration to provide 32 channels on the control surface. The system provides 32 analog line inputs, 32 analog line outputs, eight AES/EBU stereo digital inputs and eight outputs, four stereo USB inputs and four outputs, and two MADI cards for fiber optic connection of up to 64 audio signals each.

In the “LOS40 Classic Vigo” studio, the station has installed an eight-fader console with an A/B configuration to provide 16 channels on the control surface.

The system provides 16 analog line inputs, 16 analog line outputs, four AES/EBU stereo digital inputs and four stereo digital outputs, four stereo USB inputs and four stereo USB outputs, and two MADI cards for fiber optic connection of up to 64 audio signals each.

Unlike the Cadena SER studio, the console includes two microphone channels to cater for guest stations outside the shared network.

AEQ’s Forum IP Split is a mixing console designed for on-air radio and TV control. AEQ says Forum IP’s modular design adapts to different scenarios such as self-operation, control-studio, television production controls, sound production, mixed configurations and integration in large installations.
