Sennheiser Spectera sits at center of NEP Australia’s audio overhaul
OmniPlayer has announced that RTV Drenthe is the ninth regional broadcaster in the Netherlands to switch to OmniPlayer.
The Assen-based radio station began broadcasting with the online radio automation software at the end of May, and according Martijn Woering, RTV Drenthe project leader and audio technology coordinator, OmniPlayer has streamlined the station’s operation.

“We chose OmniPlayer because it combines stability and user-friendliness with a clear and realistic vision of the future,” he said. “OmniPlayer’s integrated audio editor gives RTV Drenthe editors the opportunity to easily assemble items and quickly make them available for broadcast. Simultaneously, it also gives our DJs and technicians the flexibility to, for example, integrate Spotify and a comprehensive mix editor.”
Peter van Klei, commercial director of OmniPlayer, explained that the company continues to adapt the software platform based on input from technicians and programmers. This, he says, results in being able to offer a solution that is not only able to meet today’s needs but also changing future requirements.
“We’re developing OmniPlayer 3.0, which we’ll release later this year. It encompasses functionality based on customers’ requests in terms of security, remote working, 2FA authentication, intelligent search engines and simultaneous production for various online media.”
In addition, OmniPlayer 3.0 will feature an open API, which Klei says, will make it easier to connect to other data flows, such as music scheduling and traffic. Clients can also use the API to create their own thin client, with their own branding, but at the same time use existing workflows. OmniPlayer 3.0 also has wide-ranging browser functionality with advanced audio features, speech2text conversion and visual radio options.
