WorldDAB, the international industry forum for DAB+ digital radio, has named Michael Brett of Coimisiún na Meán, Ireland’s media regulator, and David Fernández Quijada, co-founder and research director at Geneva-based consultancy South 180, as the first panelists for a session on applying its DAB+ Public Policy Toolbox. The discussion will take place at the WorldDAB Summit in Vienna on Nov. 19.
The Toolbox is a guide for governments and regulators considering the launch or expansion of DAB+. Developed from research commissioned by WorldDAB and conducted by South 180, it examines policy approaches used to support digital radio deployment in markets around the world. Brett is involved in DAB+ trials in Ireland and the development of a national licensing roadmap.
Julia Nageler, podcast content producer for Bavarian public broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk’s Bayern 3, will host the session. “Radio remains deeply rooted in local communities while also being a driving force in global innovation,” she said.
