WorldDAB announces lineup for IBC2022 session

WorldDAB speakers IBC 2022

WorldDAB, the global industry forum for DAB digital radio, has revealed the guest speakers for its special IBC2022 session, As we previously reported, the session is on Sunday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in Room E102.

The session will be hosted by Jacqueline Bierhorst, project director with Digital Radio NL and Vice President of WorldDAB, and will feature:

Hanns Wolter, technical director, DAB Italia and Chairman of WorldDAB Spectrum and Network Implementation Committee

Laurence Harrison, director of automotive partnerships, Radioplayer Worldwide will present “Lessons learned from the 2021 Car Buyers Survey”. The 2021 Car Buyers Survey was a ground-breaking piece of work carried out by the radio industry – what has been the radio industry’s response to the key findings?

Lindsay Cornell, principal systems architect, BBC, and Chairman of WorldDAB Technical Committee presents “The metadata imperative” on why it’s so important for broadcasters to keep working towards providing the best metadata for the car.

Gereon Joachim, vice president automotive sales & strategy  EMEA, Xperi will talk about personalised radio in the car; how can the connected radio add personalisation, and how can localised radio bring a personal radio experience?

Hanns Wolter, technical director, DAB Italia and Chairman of WorldDAB Spectrum and Network Implementation Committee asks what is small-scale DAB?

Finally, Lukas Weiss, board member, Digris; Open-source DAB+ in practice will present a discussion on delivering revenue generation opportunities and the latest technical DAB+ technical developments with open-source digital radio.

WorldDAB will also feature representatives of local and community radio broadcasters on DAB+. Nick Piggott, director and project manager, Bristol Digital Radio and Donald McTernan, director, Ujima Radio, will discuss a not-for-profit model allowing community and student radio stations to be available on digital radio in the UK.

Meanwhile, Gerard Lokhoff, project manager DAB allotment 76, EUregio Digitaal Foundation will talk about small-scale DAB+ in the Netherlands.
