RedTech Magazine Sept/Oct is here!

RedTech Magazine Cover Sept/Oct 2023

Broadcast radio and digital audio aren’t easy unless you’re taking the easy way out, and for a technology-rich sector like ours, new tech can readily offer that. So, in this issue, we shine a light on those taking on what is difficult.

We visit Malawi, where radio broadcasters are telling the stories of people living on dumpsites; revisit Radio Caroline, an iconic British radio station with remarkable struggle credentials; learn how Kenya is tackling an overcrowded FM spectrum; and meet a Canadian podcaster telling stories the “hard” way — with less of a human voice.

Our cover story features a rising star in German radio who is not afraid of a fight, and we also tell the story of a Danish broadcaster scaling down in size to punch above its weight.

AI gets a look in, of course, but we learn how it’s a double-edged sword, and Graham Dixon prompts us to ask ourselves uncomfortable questions about trust.

We often reach for technology to make things easier rather than operations more effective. Perhaps we should consider the value of embracing the challenge.
