RadioDNS Welcomes Nielsen’s Gracenote

Gracenote joins the RadioDNS group

Gracenote, a Nielsen company, has joined the RadioDNS group of members who are supporting the growth of hybrid radio, which works towards combining broadcast radio and internet technologies to deliver an enhanced audio experience. RadioDNS says through this membership, Gracenote will collaborate more closely with manufacturers and broadcasters to develop open standards that shape the future of radio and optimize listener engagement in connected cars.

Gracenote provides music metadata and imagery that helps drivers and passengers safely connect with all audio content, including music, news, talk radio, podcasts and sports. Gracenote says its products are in 120 million vehicles worldwide, providing its music ID, radio station ID and audio-on-demand services.

Nick Piggott, project director of RadioDNS said, “We’re very pleased to be welcoming another key supplier in the automotive industry to our membership, and one that already handles a great deal of metadata and content. The breadth and depth of our coalition of members means we can draw on relevant and practical experience to develop open standards that respond to real-work requirements.”

Maryann Faricy, senior director of product, automotive for Gracenote, said, “With Gracenote’s sizable footprint across the automotive and consumer electronics ecosystems, we are uniquely positioned to help drive the future of radio and entertainment experiences within the car. We look forward to working with our fellow RadioDNS members to keep listeners tuned to their favorite stations out on the open road.”
