Speaker maker Genelec will bring its new UNIO headphone system to New York for the AES Show, Oct. 8–10.
UNIO is part of what Genelec calls its “seamless bridge” between acoustic monitoring and headphone-based monitoring. The first-ever Genelec 8550A headphones work with the 9320A controller and Aural ID headphone technology to create the UNIO Personal Reference Monitoring Solution.
But Genelec won’t be resting on the new headphones alone. It has planned a number of classes and demonstrations for its demo room, 3D06. These will include classes delving into 3D sound along with stereo and 3D sound demos. Genelec is bringing some big names, George Massenburg, Bob Katz, Richard King, Susan Rogers and Morten Lindberg, for these classes.
For show attendees the company is installing a high-end professional studio-level immersive audio demo system consisting of a “Genelec 8381As as main L–R, an 8361A with W371A woofer system in the center position, four 8351Bs for surrounds and four 8341As for overheads, plus two 7380A subwoofers, all calibrated specifically for the room using GLM [Genelec Loudspeaker Manager] software.”
