Commercial Radio Australia has announced the finalists for the 2021 Gold Siren Award, which recognize the best radio ad or campaign for the year. The winner will be announced at the 17th annual Siren Awards in Sydney on June 3. Dave Hughes, comedian and 2DayFM breakfast host, will present the live event.
The eight creative agencies are BMF, M&C Saatchi, Showpony Advertising, whiteGREY, Wunderman Thompson, Eardrum, Isobar Australia and Rare.
The nominations cover work for a range of clients including ALDI Australia, Tourism Tasmania, Baiada (Lilydale/Steggles), the South Australian Department of Human Services, ING Bank Australia and Project Ningaloo.
“In a year of adversity the nominated finalists have found new and inventive ways to capture attention and encourage people to rethink their behaviors,” said Joan Warner, CEO of Commercial Radio Australia. “Their work helped clients to stand out in the market in areas as diverse as retail, food, health, the environment and domestic violence. We look forward to a great night where we can showcase some outstanding creativity.”
As well as the Gold Siren, three Silver Sirens will be awarded for the best radio ads across three categories: single, campaign and craft. A Siren Client Award of $1,000 cash will also be presented to the writers of the ad voted the best by a panel of clients.
The finalists in the craft category are Bang Bang Studios, Cue Sound, Rumble Studios, Seeingsounds, Squeak E. Clean Studios and We Love Jam Studios.
CRA’s annual Siren Awards are national advertising awards designed to encourage excellence and creativity in commercial radio advertising. They are judged by the Siren Creative Council, a panel of advertising agency and radio industry experts.
Entry into the Siren Awards is free. There are four categories: Radio Single, Radio Campaign, Radio Craft and Audio Innovation. There are five rounds of judging throughout the year plus a Final Call round. The winning and highly commended entries from each round are judged in the annual Siren Awards.
