In the latest “2 Mins of Tech” video from IBC2026 in Amsterdam, Tobias Dornbusch, product expert at CaptionCast, presents the company’s automated newsroom platform. The system targets the large volume of live radio content that broadcasters produce but seldom reuse. It records and transcribes a program as it goes out, turning the broadcast into material the newsroom can search and adapt.
After transmission, the platform can rework the text for different languages, audiences and formats. It also transforms the audio production, including voices, sound effects, ambience and transitions. Dornbusch gives the example of adapting a science program into a children’s program for the following Saturday morning, which requires changes to both the language and the voice. This allows broadcasters to create new versions for different audiences from material that might otherwise remain unheard in an archive.
